Sacto Shock Radio Jocks in Trouble for Trans Slurs

Rob Williams and Arnie States, hosts of the Rob, Arnie & Dawn in the Morning radio show heard in Sacramento, California on KRXQ 98.5 FM and Reno, Nevada on KDOT 104.5 FM, landed in hot water this week with the LGBT community for attacking transgender people on air.

According to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), the radio hosts spent more than 30 minutes explicitly promoting child abuse of and making cruel, dehumanizing and defamatory comments toward transgender children during a discussion about a transgender child in Omaha, Nebraska and her parents’ decision to support her transition.

GLAAD alerted supporters and the news media about the anti-trans comments in an action alert earlier this week. To  listen to the entire segment beginning at 4:48, click here.

GLAAD did credit co-host Dawn Rossi for standing up to Williams and States during the segment.

Nonetheless, GLAAD called for people to contact KRXQ management in Sacramento to demand that Williams and  States publicly apologize.

The story broke just as a state Superior Court judge in Sacramento dismissed a lawsuit seeking to invalidate SB 777, the California Student Civil Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination against students on the basis of race, religion, disability, gender, and sexual orientation.

  1. FYI: AP reports today:
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Bank of America, Verizon, Chipotle and other companies have pulled advertising from a Sacramento radio station after talk show hosts referred to transgender people as “freaks” with mental disorders.
During a May 28 show, one of the three hosts on KRXQ’s “Rob, Arnie & Dawn” show said he would hit his son with his shoe if he put on high heels. Another said he would tell a boy he was “a little idiot” if he asked to wear a dress.
Officials with Bank of America Corp. and Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. said Friday their companies pulled advertising because they found the comments offensive.

    • Get over it we are in America which means we have freedom of speech. It was a joke not to be taken so seriously! If we all have to so “politically” correct then what are we robots. Why is it that black comedians can call each other the ” N” word to each other but if a white persons says it we are prejudice. Why are you not outraged with Chris Rock. If you are so offended then why are you listening to a show that makes light of things, some of us enjoy having a moment that is not so serious! IT WAS A JOKE!!!!

I will cancel my Verizon account and close my Bank of America account never eat at a Chipotle Mexican Grill because this is AMERICA! I have the right to choose!

      • I could’nt agree more. These (people) are bitching about the very thing’s they are trying to protect. freedom of speech and self expression. but because rob and arnie’s feeling’s are different from thier’s it’s suddenly not ok. sounds like a double standard to me! they of all people should sit back and shut the f-up, just like they wish everyone would about how they think or feel and just accept that rob and arnie do not think like they do. you people piss me the hell off.

  2. RAD have for years stated that the opinions they discuss are their own and that it is up to each individual to form their own opinion based on their own experiences and information. I have been a listener for quite sometime and I do not always agree with them but I do respect their right to voice their opinion. If I had a serious problem with their political or moral views, I would tune to another station.
Our citizens have fought and died for over 233 years for our right to free speech. Soldiers have been spit on by so called “Americans” for defending that right to do so.
What the heck has happened to America?
There are so many more things wrong with this country that need to be dealt with before we punish someone for voicing their opinion. I’m not a religous person but I truly believe in “Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone”. Let’s see why woul happen if everyone followed that advice.
